Bridal Registry Made
Easy...
WHY SHOULD WE
REGISTER OUR GIFT PREFERENCES? Family and friends will want
to give you a special gift in celebration of your wedding and most do
not know your particular tastes and style. They will appreciate being
able to select something from a list tailored to your likes and needs.
A registry reduces the number of duplicate gifts you will receive.
Dillard's registry system, for instance, deletes each item from the
list at the point of sale so it won't be purchased again. This
minimizes returns after the wedding because you will be receiving
things you like and need.
Most registries are available on the Internet so that people can shop
for you in the convenience of their own home. This also makes your
registry accessible to those who do not live near your registry store.
WHEN SHOULD WE REGISTER? We recommend beginning your
registry 6-9 months before the wedding. Start with dinnerware,
flatware and stemware selections and then add the more
fashion-oriented items later, in time for your showers, or as the
wedding draws nearer.
WHAT SHOULD WE PUT ON OUR REGISTRY? Your registry can
include tableware, linens, house wares, appliances, luggage, lingerie
and other personal items that are popular for shower gifts. Register
for items appropriate for both showers and wedding gifts all on the
same registry. There is no need for two separate registries. Take into
consideration the number of invitations you are sending for your
wedding when creating your registry. Registering for what seems to be
an endless list of gifts can be a turnoff to guests. Focus on the
things you need the most and you will be more satisfied with the
outcome.
Register for items in all price ranges so there will be a gift to fit
any budget. Don't be afraid to put some higher priced items on your
list. Some of your family and friends will be interested in a more
expensive gift either individually or as a joint gift.
DO I NEED A CONSULTANT TO ASSIST ME WITH MY REGISTRY?
Although scanners are popular these days, it is wise to have a
Consultant guide you through the registry process. You will appreciate
the expertise and product knowledge with everything from cookware and
linens, to creating your table settings of dinnerware, flatware and
stemware. Most couples who were reluctant in the beginning to have
someone assist them later are glad they had the help of someone who
could answer their questions!
It will be helpful if you schedule an appointment with the registry
consultant so that she/he will have time set aside just for you. It
will enable you to establish a rapport with a wedding professional who
can often assist you with information that will help you to make your
wedding planning easier.
HOW WILL PEOPLE KNOW WHERE I AM REGISTERED? Many
people are familiar with wedding registries these days and simply call
and ask for this information. The hostess for a shower can include
your registry information in the shower invitations. Stores such as
Dillard's provide enclosure cards for this purpose. You can also help
to spread the word by telling people how excited you are that you have
started a gift registry when they ask you how your wedding plans are
progressing. It isn't considered proper etiquette though to include
your registry information in your wedding invitation.
